The hare and the tortoise

Aik khargosh ko apni tez raftaari par bohat ghuroor tha.

A hare was very proud of how fast he was.

Aik din us ne kachhue ka mazaaq uṛaaya. Kachhue ne kaha: Aao dauṛ lagaate hain.

One day he made fun of a tortoise. The tortoise said: Let's have a race.

Khargosh bohat aage nikal gaya aur socha ke thoṛi der so jaata hoon.

The hare got far ahead and thought: I will sleep for a little while.

Kachhua aahista aahista chalta raha aur kahin nahin ruka.

The tortoise kept walking slowly and did not stop anywhere.

Jab khargosh jaaga to kachhua dauṛ jeet chuka tha.

When the hare woke up, the tortoise had already won the race.
